1. Hebi No Michi (The Snake Way): This is the only way to get to the north Kaio's planet. It is about 1,000,000 km long and stretches from the back of Enma Daio's castle all the way to a point below the north Kaio's planet. It is called "the Snake Way" because, obviously, it is shaped like a snake. If you fall off of this path, you fall into hell and can never return again (supposedly). Before Goku, Enma Daio had been the first to actually make it across the Snake Way. When Goku was killed by Piccolo (in the fight against Raditz), it took him six months to get to Kaio-sama's planet and one and a half days to travel back. In the anime, the Snake Princess (Hebi Hime) has a castle built in the middle of the path. She tried to eat Goku by tranquilizing him, but he managed to escape. There isn't any trash on the path thanks to an oni who has to clean the road with a cleaning machine as his job.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. The Sun of Anoyo (The "Other World's" Sun): The giant fixed star that keeps the whole "other world" ("anoyo") bright.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. North Kaio-sei (Planet of the North Kaio): This is the small planet on which the North Kaio (usually called "Kaio-sama") lives on. This is one of the four Kaio-sei, or the four planets of the four Kaios- north, south, east, and west. Those are the other three planets that you can see in the map. The Kaio of the north lives there with Bubbles and Gregory. The gravity on this small planet is ten times stronger than Earth's. The only structures on this planet are Kaio-sama's house and a road that goes around the whole planet, as as well as a few trees here and there. After getting killed by Piccolo in the fight against Raditz, Goku came to this planet to train for the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa. Here, he trained by trying to catch Bubbles, as well as trying to hit Gregory, who could fly incredibly fast, with a huge hammer (in the anime only). Piccolo, Ten Shin Han, Yamucha, and Chaotzu (as well as the Ginyu Tokusentai- only in the anime) also came here to train after they died fighting Nappa. The planet is destroyed when Cell self-destructs after Goku teleports with him to this location to save the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Jigoku (Hell/The Home For Infinite Losers): Those who did evil things in life were sent here. (See the process of dying for details.) In the anime, Goku accidently fell off of the Snake Way and fell into hell. This is also the place where Paikuuhan defeated Cell, who had been causing trouble in hell and bossing around Freeza, King Cold, and the Ginyu Tokusentai.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Dai Kaio-sei (Dai Kaio-sama's Planet): This is where the Daio Kaio, who presides over the four Kaio-samas, lives. The planet can be seen from the "sky" in heaven and is considerably larger than the planets of the four Kaio-samas. Goku trained here after he was killed in the fight against [Perfect] Cell. Other great, honorable fighters also train on this planet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Tengoku (Heaven): This is the world where good people go after they die. Goku trained in heaven in preparation for the 25th Tenkaichi Budoukai on Earth during the Buu Saga. Heaven is about the same size as outer space, and a large portion of it is simply fields of flowers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Enma Daio no Yakata (Enma Daio's Castle): This is the first place that beings go to after they die. Here, Enma Daio decides whether a spirit goes to heaven or hell. The first time that Goku went to Enma Daio's castle was after he was killed by Piccolo in the fight against Raditz. The second time was after Cell's self-destruction, though he left soon afterwards. Goku also visited Enma Daio in the fight against Majin Buu to make sure that Gohan had not been killed. Also, this is where Vegeta was sent after his spirit was reunited with his body again (after he self-destructed in an effort to kill Majin Buu). Lastly, when Goku was gathering energy for the last genki dama (Spirit Bomb), the worker onis at Enma Daio's castle (as well as Enma Daio himself) contributed their energy to help him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Tengoku Eh no Hikoujou (The Airport to Heaven): This is where spirits who are allowed into heaven board planes that fly them to their destination. This airport was shown in between the Artificial Humans/Cell saga and the Buu saga, after Goku had died from Cell's self-destruction. Goku and Kaio-sama left the airport in Kaio-sama's rather beaten-down plane, heading for the planet of Dai Kaio-sama. The airport also appeared in the twelveth Dragonball Z movie ("Fusion!! Goku and Vegeta") when a delayed plane with a "ten" ("the heavens") symbol on it was shown.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Kaioshin Kai (World of the Kaioshins): The Kaioshin Kai is a different world, revolving around the rest of the universe like a satellite so that it can watch over everything. Therefore, is if there is a matter of extreme importance in one of the worlds, the kaioshins may interfere and take matters into their own hands. It is impossible to access this world other than the use of instant teleportation (e.g. Goku, Kibito). The Kaioshin Kai is home to the four planets of the kaioshins (north, east, south, west), as well as Dai Kaioshin-sama's planet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. Kaioshin Sei (Planet of Kaioshins): This, obviously, is where the kaioshins live. The sky is pink, and the planet has several suns. Although it's actually a very solid planet, it was severly damaged by the final battle of Dragonball Z that took place between Goku and Buu. This is also where Gohan was taken (by Kibito and Kaioshin) to be healed, as well as to pull out/train with the Zet sword (which is how Dai Kaioshin-sama was released). Dai Kaioshin also "powered up" Gohan ("Mystic Gohan") on this planet with his...odd dancing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. Suns of the Kaioshin World: These suns keep the planet of the kaioshins bright and warm. They're suns. What else did you expect 'em to do? Shoot out Pop Tarts? ...It kind of makes you wonder why such a small planet has so many suns, though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Outer Space- Divided into Four Regions: Space is divided into four regions- north, east, south, and west. Each of these regions are watched over by a kaio. Since I can't exactly go over each planet in every region, I'll just go over a few of the planets that were shown in the manga and/or anime. Earth: You all should know this one. This is where the bulk of Dragonball/Z took place. Earth is populated by many different species, but perhaps the most interesting of these are the variety of creatures that have the ablilities to speak, think, and communicate. Humans are not necessarily the majority on this planet, and there's something to show in the fact that the sovereign of Earth is a dog. Anyway, I'm sure you're quite familiar with this planet.
Wakusei Vegeta (Planet Vegeta): This planet is, of course, home to the infamous warrior race of Dragonball- the Saiyajins. The history of this planet (and its destruction) was told in a Dragonball Z special: "Final Battle Alone- The Z Fighter, Kakarotto's Father" (more commonly known as the Bardock special). The Saiyajins adapted their technology from the Tsufurujin race, which they had taken over. Although it was believed that a huge meteorite had been the end of Planet Vegeta, the truth was that Freeza had destroyed the planet and betrayed the Saiyajins, sensing them as a threat.
However, in the eighth Dragonball Z movie (introduction/story of Burori), a "new" Planet Vegeta was introduced. The land, though, proved to be quite barren except for the palace built for the "new king." It turned out that it was all part of Paragus's plan to take over the universe. The planet they were on would shortly collide with a comet and explode. Paragus had taken them to the planet to fight, since he had planned to use Earth as his headquarters and didn't wish to cause damage to it. In the end, the planet was destroyed by the collision with the comet and met its end along with Burori (movies ten and eleven aside).
Planet Namek: This planet is home to the beloved green beings (Har har.), the Namek-seijins. Some of the most prominent characters of Dragonball come from Namek, such as (most notably) Piccolo, Kami-sama, and Dende. Planet Namek is also the origin of the dragonballs. A long time ago, the planet was destroyed by an abnormal atmospheric phenomena (Try saying that five times fast!), but a few Namek-seijins (including the "Great Elder," Saichourou-sama) managed to survive. Before the incident, however, the beautiful planet had green skies and seas, blue grass, and a tall plant called "ajissa" (the tall plants that look like blue cottonball trees). The Namek-seijins were shown tending to these plants in their early stages when Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma arrived on Planet Namek. With Saichourou-sama's strength, the planet's beauty was restored. Planet Namek played an important role in Dragonball Z, and some of the most prominent incidents that took place here were Gohan and Kuririn meeting Dende (the future God of Earth), Piccolo "absorbing" Nail, the appearance of Porunga, and of course, the battle between Goku and Freeza in which the Super Saiyajin form was introduced. Unfortunately, Planet Namek suffered the same fate as Planet Vegeta and was destroyed by Freeza.
Fortunately, after living on Earth for a while, the Namek-seijins were transported to a new Planet Namek. This planet had been discovered with the help of Porunga, and it had an environment similar to Planet Namek. The new planet contained many marshy areas which enabled the ajissa plants to grow well. Goku visited the new Planet Namek in the Cell saga when he was in seach of a new god for Earth, when he met Dende- the same Namek-seijin that Goku and Kuririn had met on the old Planet Namek. Then, in the sixth Dragonball Z movie, the new Planet Namek was assaulted by Metal Cooler and Big Ghetti Star, a large structure that was attached to the planet's surface and was absorbing its energy. Fortunately, Goku and Vegeta were able to defeat Metal Cooler and destroy the Big Ghetti Star. The new Planet Namek was last shown in the Buu saga, when Kaioshin-sama (now fused permanently with Kibito) and Dende went there seeking the Namek-seijins and Porunga's help in restoring Earth (which had been completely destroyed by Buu) and its inhabitants. |
